Intro

When the clock hits five, the city shifts gears. You’re looking for a place that feels like a reset button—good music, a drink that isn’t too heavy, and a vibe that lets you let go. Below are seven spots that consistently deliver that post‑work wind‑down, each with its own flavor and practical perks.

1. The Rooftop Lounge at CityView Tower

At 35 stories high, the rooftop offers a panoramic view that turns any ordinary night into something memorable. A 30‑minute walk up the elevator, and you’re greeted by a 12‑hour happy hour that starts at 6 pm. The bar serves a rotating selection of craft cocktails, and the live DJ keeps the energy upbeat without drowning out conversation. Parking is free for guests who arrive before 8 pm, and the venue is fully accessible.

2. The Speakeasy on 7th Street

Hidden behind a bookshop, the speakeasy’s entrance is a low door with a brass plaque. Inside, the lighting is dim but not too dark, creating a cozy atmosphere. The cocktail menu is small—just 15 items—but each drink is meticulously crafted, and the staff can explain the inspiration behind each mix. A small table for two costs only £12, and the place closes at midnight, giving you a solid window to unwind.

3. Jazz & Julep at The Blue Note

For those who prefer live music, The Blue Note hosts a weekly jazz session every Thursday. The band starts at 7 pm, and the venue opens at 5:30 pm for a pre‑show cocktail hour. Seating is limited to 80 people, so arriving early ensures a spot. The bar offers a 10 % discount on all drinks between 6 pm and 7 pm, perfect for a quick drink before the music kicks in.

4. The Pub Garden on Market Square

Open to the public from 5 pm, the garden pub has a relaxed layout with plenty of lawn seating. The beer selection is local, with a rotating tap list that includes a seasonal IPA every summer. Food is straightforward—fish and chips, burgers, and vegetarian pies—priced between £8 and £12. The outdoor space is ideal for those who enjoy a bit of sunshine even after hours.

5. The Karaoke Bar on Maple Avenue

At 6 pm, the karaoke bar opens its doors to a crowd that ranges from office workers to weekend revelers. The karaoke machine has a library of over 2,000 songs, and the staff offers a “first‑time” discount of £5 on a private booth. The bar’s signature drink is a spicy mango margarita, available for £7. A quick 20‑minute walk from most office districts makes it convenient for a last‑minute escape.

6. The Rooftop Pool at Marina Bay

For a more relaxed vibe, the rooftop pool at Marina Bay offers a 24‑hour open pool and a swim‑up bar. The pool opens at 4 pm, and the bar starts serving cocktails at 5 pm. The pool area is heated, and the lounge chairs are complimentary. The venue is a short tram ride away from downtown, making it an easy drop‑off point after a long day.

7. The Wine Bar on Willow Lane

Wine lovers will appreciate the curated list of over 200 bottles, including a few rare vintages. The bar starts at 5 pm and offers a 15 % discount on all wines between 6 pm and 7 pm. The food menu is small but thoughtful—cheese platters, charcuterie, and a daily special of the week. The quiet ambience makes it an ideal place to chat with colleagues or unwind alone.

When you’re looking to shift gears after a full day, a good drink or a bit of music can do wonders. Each of these spots offers a distinct experience that caters to different tastes and schedules.
